Getting old is a bitch, we all know that. Body starts hurting and you start to suffer from illnesses you didn’t even know existed until they were present in your everyday life. We’ll even though we aren’t that old, yet. We have been starting to see some signs coming our way over the last 3-5 years and it doesn’t look like its going to get better.
Trading in your bike for a mobility scooter
I will use one of my favorite characters in the series Sons of Anarchy to get the point in, Piney. Even though he has succumbed to using o2 on a daily basis he never thinks twice about trading in his Harley for one of those freaky looking mobility scooters which are usually used by fat and lazy people. Riding his three-wheeled Harley-Davidson Electra Tri-Glide he sure brings us faith for our years of age.
That bike of his sure is a beauty and even though we all might get old some day we have faith that we will be riding our bikes all the way to the reaper and handing him over the keys. Given the consideration, however, these mobility scooters probably fill the lives of disabled people with the help they need to just do the basic things that many of us takes for granted. They might not look cool doing it, but we are very respectful and thankful that these type of vehicles exists to aid and enrich disabled people’s lives on an everyday basis.
Bikes we would use if we ever get “too old” to ride
Below you find some of our favorite picks that we would have no problem what so ever using when we get “too old to ride”. There are some of which you might not have heard so much about before.
The Harley FreeWheeler 2015 is a beauty. One of the smaller Harley Trikes out there which was produced in order for them to secure a position amongst the mid-sized trike lovers. It is aimed at shorter riders and it is the first of its kind from Harley Davidson that is built for this audience. Many had longed for this day to come, but none were ever sure if it would. Thankfully it did and now even us shorter people can get something a bit more comfortable and built for our size. It is based on the Twin Cam 103 engine packing 1,690cc of air-cooled displacement, capable of producing a very useful 142Nm of torque and is equipped with the Cruise Drive 6-speed transmission that has electrically-selected reverse. Should do it for both long hauls and relaxed touring.
Harley Davidson Tri-Glide senior bike
The Harley Tri-Glide is the perfect seniors bike-pick. Above you can see the 2017 edition of the model and it is packed with features. As you can see it is a spacious and stylish bike with enough storage space to take your entire home with you, kidding aside, it has more than generous containments and the comfort seems to be out of this world. I would definitely have no problem putting my old ass upon that (what seems like) an office chair. Powered by the famous twin-cooled Milwaukee-eight engine and the Boom Box Speakers attached to the wheel covers.
Which would be your mobility ride?
So what type of bike would you get if you couldn’t ride a two-wheeler anymore? The answer is easy for me, I’d pick the Tri-Glide any day of the week. Superior comfort, raw power and I love the design and space, also my wife would probably ride very comfortably in the back. You always have to think about the ladies, gentlemen. Leave a comment about which is your favorite three-wheeler!
